The AAGC is seeking volunteers to serve on our various committees. If you would like to be a part of planning and executing our upcoming events and advancing the association as whole, please sign up below.
All AAGC committee meetings are held via Zoom at 9:00 a.m., unless otherwise noted.
Community Outreach
First Wednesday of the month
Mission Statement:
The Community Engagement Committee’s purpose is to provide service to the Greater Columbia area by planning events that will meet social, economic or environmental needs of the community. Volunteers are to promote and endorse regular events for the year that will have a positive impact on both the association and the community.
The Charity Golf Tournament seeks to promote the goodwill of the AAGC in the Greater Columbia community by hosting an annual Charity Golf Tournament for its members. Through this tournament, efforts will be made to raise funds for the AAGC, with a portion of the net proceeds to be donated to a local charity (as designated and approved by the Board of Directors).
The Auction Committee’s purpose is to coordinate and develop the annual charity auction in which a portion of the proceeds (as designated by the Board of Directors) shall be donated to the charity selected for that year.
Programs
First Thursday of the month
Mission Statement:
The purpose of the Programs Committee is to plan and schedule the monthly Networking Meeting speakers, social teasers and supplier partner spotlights. The committee meets and works year-round and plays a vital role in the systematic development, structure and implementation of AAGC meetings and functions.
The committee also coordinates the planning of the Trade Show/Expo that allows associate members a rare opportunity to showcase their products and services to the direct members of the association. The event is designed to promote participation, attendance, and involvement for members at all levels. This event is typically held in September.
Specialty Housing
Second Wednesday of the month
Mission Statement:
The committee’s charge is to seek ways to increase the association’s footprint in the Student, Affordable Housing and Senior Housing segment of the multifamily industry.
Membership
Second Thursday of the month
Mission Statement:
The purpose of the Membership Committee is to work to help ensure a continuous growth in membership of the AAGC. The committee’s goals are reached by a constant encouragement of a group of existing members to actively pursue the recruitment of new members and the retention of existing members.
The committee strives to inform and bring together the direct and associate members of our association for fellowship through the communication of upcoming events. It is our responsibility to contact each member every month and inform them of upcoming events two weeks prior to the scheduled event.
Further, the community is charged with overseeing the Social Media platforms maintained by the association. The goal is to increase the presence of our association through interactive and dynamic social networking media with a goal of informing members of upcoming events, engaging members in topics of interest relative to the multifamily industry, and promoting and encouraging involvement within our community through constant up to date communication.
Maintenance
Third Tuesday of the month (10 a.m.)
Mission Statement:
The purpose of the Maintenance Committee is to plan and implement the AAGC’s Maintenance Mania event, as directed by the National Apartment Association as well as plan and execute social and/or networking opportunities for the maintenance staff as well as educational courses relevant to the on-site maintenance staffs.

The Apartment Association of Greater Columbia is committed to an atmosphere of inclusivity by developing and maintaining a diverse culture that promotes collaboration and understanding of varied backgrounds and differences. We endeavor to promote the association in the best light as we recognize that diversity brings about greater creativity and different perspectives that will serve our members well within the various platforms of the multifamily industry. Our association also creates the perfect opportunity for people from all walks of life to connect through advocacy, education, engagement and volunteering.
Advocacy & Education
Last Wednesday of the month
Mission Statement:
The purpose of the Advocacy & Education Committee is to plan and schedule all of the educational opportunities for the association (except maintenance specific topics). The committee meets and works year-round and plays a vital role in the systematic development, structure and implementation of AAGC all education events.
The committee goal is to provide our members with informative and enlightening classes and seminars that are relevant to the multi-family housing industry. The Education Committee endeavors to achieve its goal through constant communication with the members of the association in order to continuously update its agenda to include topics of interest.
The committee also tracks legislative that may potentially impact the multifamily industry on the local, state and national level.
